Synopsis:
Dr Waller Lewis visited Dartmouth for the Board of Health to inspect the Watchhouse and Jail and "to learn the sanitary condition of the inhabitants generally". This transcript of his report, held in the National Archives, also includes a list of the Dartmouth Street Commissioners and a tabulated "Return" showing numbers of houses with water closets, privies, and no such facilities.
