Journey to London Sunday Dinner with Grandmother at Exeter then London Inn, accompanied Capt. Berkley to Axminster. Slept there. Monday with JS in post chase to Ringwood, much rain. JS's fear of Ague so ordered pipes Z tobacco for 2. Tuesday to Southampton, dined with Mr. Bentley met Mrs. Batesworth called on Mrs. Dumcresq & Dr. Hackett. No time to see Miss Bayard or Johnson. Mail Coach to London in the evening. Far enough for JS. JHS going on to Edinburgh in 2 or 3 days. Called on Mr. Bruce.
