A child would have understood JS's letter of 17 inst. If JS felt it would be good for the family JHS would pay himself out to the best advantage & marry (Margaret S). College rising before 1 May. If staying at Edinburgh after that Mr. Manners would expect more pay. Anxious to be present at meeting of JS & T.Lister. Sam Fownes to marry Fanny Ilbert. Servant needed for the Militia.
