Received letters & newspapers from PJ by Dr. Thomas recording the illness & death of the Nabob. HS's firend Mill had replaced Scott as Chairman of the India Direction. No arrangement before a strict examination of claims. HJ called twice at Lady Clive's, Dover Street, Lord C. was out of Town. Lady J. was near her sister, Mrs. Bond in Dartmouth, more desirable than Urpeth was. Her gouty rheumatick indisposition, but getting better. Lord Clime's attention to PJ good. Lord Chatham soon to replace Marquis Westlesley. Mr. Addington Chancellor of the Exchequer instead of Mr. Pitt Ld. Cornullius Windham & Dundass out. Ld. Cormullis to notify the Head of Amiens.
