JS agrees with Sir T.C. Nothing would be settled without his advice. Unaware Miss Cowell owned part of the estate. She would be informed. Convenience of road not to be set against loss or inconvenience to owners. If Sir T.C. came, Mr. Stroud would bring hounds. Best Inclosed sport in Devonshire.

Jo Bardens said PH at Moreley to be sold, tenant at Highrt Storridge told by Southcote to ''Pair the Wood'', cannot get true account of purchass of Mr Sparks house at Stoke or sale of Buckland, Duke of Bedford & Mr Bridgeman mentioned. Reference to tree planting at Old Mill.

Mr. Roope Ilbert told JS that Mr. Stroud would be at Moreleigh. JS hopes to join him for sports & perhaps also F.Yard & friends if given notice. Sorry about weather at Deane. JS had had no time to deal with engineer Greenslaide, but hopes he can come to Moreleigh so JS can see him.

With brother at Bar when letter came. JS's stay with AMS very short after CF left. No rides together due to very early dinner time. Sent Mrs. S's letter by penny post. Plan for CF to buy JS's Bovey estate not good CF economizing so as to retire earlier. Wishes JS had sold expensive town house. Lord Mansfield very feeble, just gone. Capt. F. well settled.

Thank's for JS's help over possible transfer of JR's money against advice of SS company. Worry over Whitfields loss of faculties & his endeavour to procure the transfer. W.wrote in JR's name to disagreeable John Champion. JR wished his affairs were cut off. W's hands. Quote; case------- Parties interested not all joined; no Application made to the Court of Plenary.

Case laid before the solicitor with these remarks:- J.Chapman refuses to join in the Transfer, Mrs.R was not in possession till after her daughter's death. In reply to questions asked about this R.J. concluded that Power of Appointment was lost by death of daughter Int. in Common does not survive so Transfers should not be made but under direction of a Court of Equity unless by consent of all parties.

Very grateful for favour of 5 December. Corporations private meeting adjourned till the following Friday. Bridgeman likely to insist on regular election other candidate not a proper person. B.might be removed by majority. Perpetual squabble likely. If not in Mr. B might then elect R.P's son. Trustees not known. Roper returned previous evening.

Bill put up in coffee house. Only ONE application from Italian asking not less than £100 a year. Many women applied, one recommended by Cannon of Windsor. One man played harpsichord, violin & guitar. Could teach singing, writing & figures but not Italian.

AMS very poorly. Poor little Cocu killed by great black dog. Much loved lap dog. Williams at home with gout so AMS much confined. Sam the cobbler already lame fell from horse, broke his leg in hospital, perhaps crippled. Jonas Commins shot himself. Mr. Newcombe said, Father unlikely to survive shock. Mrs Woodley & niece called.

Not surprised AMS was out of spirits - JS's & Bishop's consolations not likely to save old Mr. Commins. Glad Miss Woodley was with AMS. Hoped someone else could drive AMS's carriage. Air & exercise very beneficial. JS in hopes of seeing Miss Caly when AMS would be at Mt. Boone.

Congratulations to Rev.G.G. on being made King's Chaplain, as informed by G.G's brother. In the low countries struggling after loaves & fishes. Larger fleet than ever sent out in spite of losses. G.G's 2 brothers well. WE a close neighbour. Accounts of Governor not good.

Glad CH had good journey. Mrs Jarvuise recommened Mrs Lane's former cook. Good report also from Mrs Pearce. Hoiland to begin papering , Drew painting the parlour. Hine's men laying sleepers. Dolly & MH busy with curtains. Bind for curtains needed, also a Manchester. Andrew told Mr. Creed Mr. Thomas had been drinking forbidden ale. He should go.
