Thanks for box of hams. EMK's health very good. Much indebted to Miss Mervin for prescribing for her when unwell & also for her jelly of tent & Isinglass. Sorry that SS was uneasy about EMK being in the family way. She wondered what Mrs. Taylor said to Uncle about her to make him so cool towards her. She saw Mrs. T. as little as possible. The Fownes drank tea with EMK. Old Mrs. F. very down in her spirits. SS's tongues & pickles much appreciated by EMK.

HAL's child had great irruptions:feared it was measles or small pox. It was red gum and was cured.Inoculated for cow pox, matter taken from Mrs. Carr's little girl. She had recommended the clever, honest apothecary. Mrs. Mervin called; Robert had come safe and well. Charles expected, walking with school friends. EMK was very poorly. Note came addressed to Father announcing the safe arrival of oysters & mango from Orswell. Many thanks to Father. Mrs. Fownes looked much better.

EMK's sickness increasing, no worse than others in her condition. Harriet said all well at Belmont. Riots mentioned not very alarming. Prices rising. Mrs & Miss Ilbert just left Town. Mrs. Fownes leaving in a fortnight much better thanks to Mr. Pennington, the apothecary. Maundy Thursday so boys & Miss Mervin went to see purses & bread given to the Poor. Got a violent headache after a Play,'' Deaf & Dumb'', an interesting comedy. The tongues sent excellent but the hams stank, not cured in time. Extra room for Father 21 April.

Health much better. Just seen Harriet, Charles not fit to be seen, his clothes dirty & stained, & Robert, good on his own, noisy with Charles. The Landlady was asking when JS was wanting a room & if he was bringing a man. If so she would have to get an extra maid. She would give notice to her present lodger to quit. EMK needed 2 servant's sheets, Harriet might lend. Cold weather. Unable to come to Devonshire till July. Thanks for thinking of the little frocks etc.Glad if Father could bring the red prayer book & old Bible & gooseberries & currents.

Robert's fever gone - 15 April too soon to go to school so the Apothecary wrote a certificate to give to Dr. Heath. Harriet & Elliott just had sore throats. Baby was well, inoculated a second time as the first did not take. Nurse's little girl came 13 April. Baby would be ''tucked'' in May & have laun frocks & shirts. EMK looking much better. 15 April going together to a concert at the Savery's. Then Harriot drove? to an opera concert. She also went with the Rolles to them, Dr.Birdwood very ill.

Robert had left that Thursday with a note to Mrs. Roggereax, about his illness. Harriet told him to write to SS (from Eton). Little Tom was so heavy Harriet had to give up nursing him for more than a few minutes at a time. Laun bought for his frocks etc. He had a beaver jockey cap with a cadade. Maria looked better. Harriet felt weak. Mr. Croft came & ordered bark & vitriol for her & recommended her to drink the Spa waters of Islington. Mrs. & Miss Carteret called. Mrs. C. was regretful of Maria's marriage. The girls were lodged in the Feathersborne buildings. Mr. Silvestor's house being full. The Kekewich's were in Town. Melonchony news of the Walcots

Sorry SS was unwell. Hopeful that Mr. Puddicombe or Mr. Hunt had been consulted. Harriet much better after taking bark & vitriol. Account of Mrs. Wolcot very affecting. William W's conduct the effect of a degree of insanity. Little Tom well & happy. Maria poorly but dined with Harriet to meet Mr. Bond & the Carterer's. Mrs. C. had heard that Mr. Kekewich had illtreated Maria at Southampton circulated evidently by the unscrupulous Mrs. Taylor. Thoughts of buying a house in C???? St.

Extremely sorry SS.s fright caused by the insane or wicked William Wolcot. Dined with the Carterets & Mr. Bond. He also breakfasted with EMK. Looking forward to seeing SS and Mrs. Bond in the Summer. With the Kekewich's to seeing Cock in ''Richard 111''; good but not superior to Nemble. Declining Miss Rolle's invitation to the Anniversary of the Sons of the Clergy at St. Pauls. Thanks for Bible and Prayer Books & Bottled of Gooseberries. Father broke a Box of them? in Bath.

Father unwilling SS should remain in London during the summer. JHS anxious to be in the profession he wanted rather than idleness. He would be welcome with EMK in the winter. Impossible to visit Devon that summer. Expected to be confined in October. Impossible to have the baby at Mrs. K's house in Exeter as the family were all going to Dawlish, EMK would have 2 maids, one to cook & JS could bring Gillard. Harriet etc. were well. Father talked of seeing Robert & Charles. Father was sending John's watch by Mrs. K. Received excellent Hog's Pudding.

All well at Belmont & EMK well. Spent a day at Hornsey with Mrs Mervin, who was afflicted with giddiness & others. Harriet, not well & Mrs. Lister stayed 3 days with Dr. & Mrs. Swabey in the country. JHS impatient to be in the Army, not EMK'd wish for his future.No sign of his letter to JS. Going to tea that evening with the Carterets in Featherstone Buildings. Hopes of visiting Devon end of June or beginning of July till September. Confinement expected in October. Harriet's wet nurse engaged by EMK. Mr. Douglass preferred to Mr. Croft by EMK as doctor. Parry at the Fownes's. ????& JHS's watch sent to SS. Father's trial etc.

Father had no objections to SS sending for Mr.Puddicombe but did not want to see him himself/ Term had begun that Friday so Father's cause might be decided within a week. Term would end the 25th and a day or two later EMK etc. would come to Devon & hoped to stay with SS till Harriet etc. came in July. Mrs. Templar & Miss T with Mr. Lyn her betrothed had just called with Mrs. Mervin. Dining that day with the Listers. Mr. L. just off to Oxford. Mrs. SK, the Miss Fownes & old Mrs. K. giving material or making clothes for EMK's (baby?) Acceptance of the Bond's invitation.

Just settled in their new home, very satisfied. Tea the previous day with EMK. Mr. Lister was off to Oxford the next day with a chance of taking his doctor's degree. EMK talked of leaving Town that Thursday. Harriet hoped that they would leave for Devonshire before the middle of July, best of all to Dartmouth with everyone there. Nurse recovering from bad Lumbago. Tom alright Robert in Town for a day or two. JHS with Aunt & Fuge. Miss Rolles called.

Leaving London the following Monday week, could stay with Aunt if not convenient. Hoped that EMK was well after her journey. Mrs. RK was told by HAL of their arrival. Harriet was going to Charlotte Street to check if the woman was taking care of the house, glad the windows were open, it being a fine day. Little Tom was eating broth & beef tea. Mrs. S. Fownes' little daughter very ill but recovering fast. There had been a tremendous fire in Guildford Street, 12-1 are not a coach-makers. John & Mr L. checked that the Fownes's & Kekewiches were safe. It was soon extinguished.

Grandmother (A.M.Seale) was unable to write herself.Had asked JCF to write that she would be grateful of a remittance as soon as possible. He sent good wishes to his aunt (SS) & the other part of the family with Mr. & Mrs. Kekewich. (Note to say Bills of £50 were sent.)

JO had a copy of (Richard Honey's) will. J.Seale was 1st Guardian so must settle the business without Loss or Chancery (otherwise JO would be ruined, & bring Mr. Puddiscombe, who had kept too much money, to account. JO had proof of silver & clothe embezzled out of the house probably by the servant, who should be brought upon oath with Mr. P. JO's health has been bad since leaving Dartmouth so had not much time left. Correspondents were on the spot so could talk to J.Seale.

Heat oppressive. The Misses Lister seen every day. Mrs. L. a very pleasant chatty woman. Letter from Harriet with a good account of little Tom. Mr. L & his aunts very impatient to see him. EMK hoped that Elliott would send her 2 shifts, black silk & silk pelisse & gown. Hoped to see SS in the second week of September. Cooks unavailable,too much in demand. Lodging next door suitable for Miss Bond at a guinea a week.

Called on the Jones's. Pitman Jones due to set off by the mail the following Tuesday Robert was to go with him. Mrs. Jones wanted Robert to stay at their house on Monday night. EMK hoped he would ciome to her at Peasemoor on the Sunday. If he came on Monday he should call at Peasemoor if not pay one at the Inn or Pitman could direct him to Mrs. K's house at Southernay. Unable to find a servant for Harriet. When was SS moving to Mt. Boone? Was a little child's basket available at Dartmouth or did one have to get it in Exeter? EMK was dressing for dinner at Admiral Dod's.
